A 22-year-old maid in Dzivaresekwa, Harare, was arraigned before the court on Wednesday for allegedly raping a boy aged eight twice.
Magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa advised her to apply for bail at the High Court.
The accused will return to court on August 27 for trial commencement.
State prosecutor Anesu Chirenje said sometime in March this year, the boy was playing outside the house when the maid called him into their bedroom where she undressed the complainant and placed him on the bed.
It is alleged she also removed her underwear and laid on the bed by her back and placed the minor on her groin before raping him once.
After the act, the alleged perpetrator dressed the complainant and went into the kitchen where she repeated her actions, this time raping the boy on a chair, the court heard.
According to the State, the accused wiped the minor, dressed him properly and threatened him with assault if he revealed what had happened.
The matter came to light on August 19 this year when the boy narrated his ordeal to his mother leading to the maid’s arrest.
