HARARE regional magistrate Letwin Rwodzi on Tuesday sentenced a 29-year-old man from Chinamhora area, Mashonaland East province, to an effective 15-year jail term for raping his brother's wife.
Circumstances are that on May 19, 2024, the victim was alone at her homestead whilst her husband had gone to the local business centre when she heard a knock at the gate and dashed out to investigate.
She then invited him into the house, but the perpetrator went on to lock the door from inside and raped her at knife point.
After the act, he stormed out of the house after ordering the complainant not to reveal her ordeal to anyone.
A short while later, the complainant’s husband arrived home and she narrated her ordeal to him.
The couple then made a police report, leading to the perpetrator's arrest.
