Traditional medicines clinic opens in Waterfalls

In an interview with NewsDay recently, proprietor and leading traditional medical practitioner Belinda Magida Phiri said their goal was to provide a holistic approach to healthcare, addressing the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of patients.

A TRADITIONAl medical clinic, Rootlife Healing Centre, has been opened in Mainway Meadows,Waterfalls, offering a wide range of healing modalities including herbal medicine, acupuncture, massage therapy and nutritional counselling.

In an interview with NewsDay recently, proprietor and leading traditional medical practitioner Belinda Magida Phiri said their goal was to provide a holistic approach to healthcare, addressing the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of patients.

Phiri said she decided to open a traditional clinic because of her deep-rooted belief in the power of natural healing methods.

“Having witnessed the limitations and side-effects of modern medicine, I felt compelled to provide an alternative approach that respects the body’s innate ability to heal itself.

“My journey into traditional medicine began with a personal experience. Through exploring various traditional healing practices, I experienced profound healing and transformation. This inspired me to dedicate my life to helping others discover the same potential within themselves,” she said.

Phiri said Rootlife Clinic believed in fostering collaboration and synergies between traditional and modern medical practices to provide the highest quality of care to our patients.

“We recognise the value of integrating the best of both worlds to offer comprehensive healthcare solutions that address the diverse needs of our community.

“Our shared goal is to provide a seamless healthcare experience that prioritises patient-centred care, collaboration among healthcare providers, and ultimately improved health outcomes for all.

“Together, we look forward to shaping the future of healthcare by bridging the gap between traditional and modern medicine, one patient at a time.

“My mission is to empower individuals to take control of their health and well-being through holistic approaches that honour mind, body and spirit.”

Her background in traditional medicine stems from a combination of formal education and apprenticeship with skilled practitioners across different modalities.

“I realised my calling during a pivotal moment of introspection, where I felt a deep resonance with the principles and practices of traditional healing. This realisation ignited a passion within me to pursue this path wholeheartedly.

“I come from a supportive family background that has always encouraged me to follow my passions. I have three children of my own, I consider all my patients and staff as part of my extended family.”

From chronic pain relief to improved mental health and overall vitality, are some of the success stories she claims are a testament to the effectiveness of traditional healing modalities.

The traditional health facility has state-of-the-art serene treatment rooms, a herbal apothecary, and modern amenities designed to enhance the healing experience complemented by a dedicated team of experienced practitioners, including herbalists, massage therapists, nutritionists, counsellors and administrative staff.

Phiri said that in the realm of traditional medicine, there exists a profound connection to  ancestors, whose wisdom and guidance continue to resonate through the ages.

The clinic presently employs 12 people and has plans to employ more in the next few months as business booms.
