US gospel artiste Chandler Moore comes to Zim

Moore’s fame continues to grow through songs such as OMEMMA.

UNITED States gospel singer, praise and worship leader and song writer Chandler David Moore is set to thrill gospel lovers when he performs at Belgravia Sports Club in Harare on April 11.

Chandler got into the limelight through his first album Feelings, which he released in 2020 under Maverick City Music.

Moore’s fame continues to grow through songs such as OMEMMA.

Lyncolin Kapswara, creative director for Events by GEC, says they are more than excited to present the OMEMMA Tour, headlined by Moore.

“This marks Chandler’s maiden solo tour to Africa, following the massive success of his song OMEMMA, meaning ‘The God Who Does Good’ in Nigerian,” Kapswara said.

“Chandler is the main act and there are several supporting artistes. The event features an impressive line-up, which includes Annatoria, Minister Michael Mahendere, Cleo Arie, Ezekiel Paul, Covenant Praise, and BIGSTAR Nash, which is all meant to ensure a dynamic and uplifting experience.”

Kapswara said fans can expect “a powerful night of worship in a safe, family-friendly environment”.

“As Events by GEC, we strive to deliver top-quality shows that exceed expectations.

“In five years, we envision gospel music experiencing significant growth, driven by collaborations and skills exchanges between international and local artists.

“This synergy will promote Zimbabwean gospel music on an international scale,” he said.

“We invite you as families to join us on Friday April 11, at Belgravia Sports Club. Gates open at 5pm. With schools closed, students are encouraged to attend and enjoy an unforgettable evening of worship and music.”

Moore was born on March 21, 1995, in Charleston, South Carolina, to bishop Brian David Moore and elder Jametta Chandler Moore.

He grew up a devout Christian and began his musical journey as a background vocalist for Travis Greene and Tye Tribbett.

Moore is known for his collaborations with other artistes like Justin Bieber, Steffany Gretzinger, Dante Bowe and Elevation Worship on projects like Old Church Basement, Voice of God and Where Do I Fit In.

Kapswara said Moore has a proven track record of staging spiritually uplifting performances and he is in total fitness to perform his old and new songs which include and are not limited to Promises, Jireh, Lead Me On, God Will Work It Out, I Thank God, Million Little Miracles, Jubilo and OMEMMA, among plenty others.

The local contingent of gospel artistes promised thrilling performances as they have been taking active roles in praise and worship services at their respective churches.

Moore believes gospel music is inspirational to many youths, claiming that churches are the biggest collective entity that has ever emerged and successfully nurtured musicians.

He said Maverick City Music was launched in 2018, which saw 17 song writing camps bringing together over 100 Christian artistes and songwriters, resulting in the creation of over one hundred songs and a label.

Tony Brown and Jonathan Jay, who were writing for the gospel music group Housefires at the time, intended to create space for diversity by including creatives who are often marginalised such as black people and women who are singers and songwriters, and bringing attention to their voices and ability.

A product and beneficiary of this whole Maverick City Music arrangement, Moore released several singles and also played guitar backed by the group.
