Nostalgic fashion designer, artist releases Ngikhumbula Ekhaya track

EUROPE-BASED Zimbabwean fashion designer and Imbizo hit-maker, Romeo Gumede

EUROPE-BASED Zimbabwean fashion designer and Imbizo hit-maker, Romeo Gumede (39), has released visuals of his latest hip-hop song titled Ngikhumbula Ekhaya.

Gumede, who is also the founder of Khwampa clothing label, told NewsDay Life & Style that he has always had zeal for music from the age of 16 alongside his friends in Entumbane, Bulawayo.

He said he made a surprising career change when he migrated to Europe to work as a healthcare worker.

Gumede said his inspiration comes from his father.

“I was born in a family with a strong political background. I initially followed in my father’s footsteps by establishing myself in the world of fashion and music,” he said.

“My unique sense of style and innovative approach to design quickly gained me a dedicated following in the industry.”

Added Gumede: “I have a clothing label called Khwampa Brands. Also, my musical talent allowed me to collaborate with various artistes from South Africa and release my own music, garnering critical acclaim along the way.”

In the new song, Gumede compares how easy it is to get things done at home because everyone knows who you are compared to Europe.

“Despite my success in these fields, I felt a calling to make a difference in a more direct and meaningful way,” he said.

“This has led me to pursue a career in healthcare, where I could use my skills to help others in a more tangible manner.

“I made the bold decision to move to Europe in search of new opportunities in the healthcare industry.”

He added: “While this career change may come as a surprise to some, I have always been dedicated to making a positive impact on the world around me. By using my creativity and passion for helping others, I hope to make a difference in the lives of those in need.”

As he embarks on this new chapter in his life, Gumede continues to inspire others with his determination and willingness to follow his heart.

“Whether it be through fashion, music, or healthcare, it is clear that my talent and drive will continue to leave a lasting impact on those around me,” Gumede said.
