Defender Genesis Munashe emerged as fall guy after he netted an own goal which saw Kwekwe United suffer yet another defeat at the hands of Yadah FC in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Bata Stadium yesterday.

Yadah FC won 1-0 courtesy of Munashe's own goal in the 17th minute. After a late kick off, the two sides started the match slowly, with little threat against each other.

Kwekwe United got their first chance on the 15th minute, when Takudzwa Chimhowa whipped in a cross that was tucked by Tafadzwa Muzenda.

However, they felt hard done when assistant referee Edgar Rumeki flagged it off for an off-side.

A minute later, the struggling side were trailing when their defender Munashe turned home a cross that looked hapless into his own net.

And when they came from the break, both sides were huffing and puffing with no clear cut created as the midfield was congested.

Kwekwe United coach Masimba Dinyero said the off the field problems were having a huge toll on the players.

"Actually, with the events which are happening before the matches, it's a reflection of bad things which will happen in the shoulders because they will lose concentration and focus,” Dinyero said.

"Because we need these youngsters to be focused from the way to go up to the end. But when we have disturbance before the match, they will lose focus. They are still young.

"They want to grow and they want to learn more. But, unfortunately, you can we, we are going to keep on psyching them up to the end. It's not the end of the world.

"We have considered the an on goal, but to me, as it comes up to the youngsters and also we need to have strikers. We don't have strikers in our team, and it's a home wreck again for us to have strikers who can hit the ball on the on the goal.”

Yadah FC coach Takaendesa Jongwe was not impressed with his team's performances despite the win.

"It was a difficult game,” Jongwe said. “There are no easy games in the PSL and we didn't play to our full potential. I thought Kwek Kwek gave us a fight, though they didn't create a lot of chances, but they gave us a fight.

"We got our chances, we were a bit in a hurry. I thought we were hurrying a lot, especially in the first half.We got some chances which we could have, with a bit of patience we could have buried.

"But in the second half, I thought Kwekwe was on us. Fortunately enough, we managed to walk away with three points."
