Zimbabweans are free to offer constructive criticism on the local authorities’ procurement processes to spur development in their areas, Bulawayo Provincial Affairs and Devolution minister Judith Ncube has said.

In a speech read on her behalf by the director in her office, Stephen Ndagurwa during the policy dialogue conference organised by the Public Policy Research Institute if Zimbabwe in Bulawayo, Ncube said local authorities also make significant contributions to access to healthcare, education, and road maintenance.

She said without strong procurement processes ensured that local authority procurement is fair, open, and competitive to prevent corruption and favouritism.

“Such processes build public trust and help ensure that contracts are awarded based on merit, not connections.

“This is important as it ensures that the final product or service delivered to citizens is of a high quality,” Ncube said.
