POLICE in Bulawayo have launched an investigation into a murder case following the discovery of a 29-year-old man’s body with stab wounds along Stratford Road in Southwold on Sunday morning.
The deceased, identified as Gift Moyo, was found lying lifeless along Stratford Road at around 1:30am by a company driver who was transporting colleagues home.
Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said the informant was driving along Plumtree Road when one of the passengers requested to be dropped off in Southwold.
“After turning into Stratford Road and travelling about seven metres, he observed a person lying on the ground,” she said.
“He stopped the vehicle to check if the person needed assistance, only to find out that the individual showed no signs of life.”
Police were immediately alerted and they attended the scene, where they discovered the victim had sustained two stab wounds — one to the left lower chest and another to the back right shoulder. The motive for the murder remains unclear and no arrest has been made.
Police are appealing to the public for information that can assist in apprehending the suspect.
