
HARARE, Aug 26 (NewsDay Live) - South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to officiate at the 115th edition of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show (ZAS) this Friday, underscoring the event’s growing stature as a key regional platform for agribusiness.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services minister Jenfan Muswere during a post-Cabinet media briefing.
The show, which commenced on Monday, will run until August 30 at the Harare Exhibition Park.
This year’s event is being held under the theme Building Bridges, Connecting Agriculture, Industry and Commerce and is aimed at fostering greater integration and value chain development.
Cabinet noted the update on the event, which continues a proud tradition of showcasing the best of Zimbabwean and international agriculture.
The show is organised around five dedicated sections which are agri-produce, tobacco, cotton, livestock and the commercial exhibition, providing a comprehensive overview of the sector.
The event has attracted significant international participation, with exhibitors from across Africa and beyond.
“Foreign participants from South Africa, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Ghana, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palau and China are exhibiting at this year’s event,” Muswere informed the media.

The choice of Ramaphosa as the official opener continues a recent tradition of inviting regional Heads of State to highlight the show’s diplomatic and economic importance.
Last year’s event was officially opened by then Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi on August 26, , alongside his Zimbabwean counterpart, President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
That edition was celebrated for strengthening bilateral ties and exploring new trade corridors through Mozambican ports.
