Zanu PF activists granted bail

CHINHOYI magistrate Kudzanai Kapurura has granted bail to Zanu PF activists occupying gazetted land without authority.

The Zanu PF activists, including the party’s losing candidate for the Chinhoyi parliamentary seat in the August 2023 elections, Thomas Chidzomba and Esau Chizombe, were granted US$100 bail each. Bail conditions include residing at their given addresses, not interfering with witnesses and reporting once a fortnight at CID Chinhoyi.

Kapurura also granted a request made by Chidzomba’s lawyer, Ngonidzaishe Charewa of Murisi and Partners, that four of his (Chidzomba) employees, namely Tafadzwa Manjani, Patrick Gomo, Marunga Phiri and Jonathan Rusike, take care of his property at the farm awaiting finalisation of the case.

Chidzomba's accomplices, Bruno Elias, John Kagare and Norbert Mawere, were arrested early this month and are out on bail.

He was also arrested for occupying part of Brink Bosman’s Dandrennam Farm without authority last month, with the other four Zanu PF activists, but the courts withdrew the charges.

Charewa represented all the accused while Grace Zhou prosecuted.

The Zanu PF activists will be back in court on July 3 for trial.
