OMFIA ramps up preparations for Oliver Mtukudzi commemorations

The late music giant Oliver "Tuku" Mtukudzi,

HARARE, Aug.20,2025 (NewsDay Live)-When the sun sets on great artistes, their legacy often glows brighter than ever before.

Such is the case with the late music giant Oliver "Tuku" Mtukudzi,  whose voice, guitar, and soul-stirring lyrics echoed across the continent and far beyond. 

Mtukudzi died on January 23,2019, aged 66.

Tuku' as he was affectionely known by his legions of fans was a businessman, philanthropist, human rights defender and Unicef Goodwill ambassador for southern Africa.

This September 19-20, the Oliver Mtukudzi International Festival of the Arts (OMFIA), returns for its second edition at the Pakare Paye Arts Centre in Norton, Zimbabwe and  promises  a heartfelt celebration of a man whose music was not just entertainment, but a movement of social consciousness.

His daughter Samantha confirmed in a statement that all was all set for the second edition of the Oliver Mtukudzi International Festival of the Arts (OMFIA) running under the theme "Todii -Senzeni- What Shall We Do?"

Headlining the entertainers   are the internationally-acclaimed musicians Senzeni, Feli Nandi, Jah Signal, Saintfloew, Tamy Moyo, Vee Mhofu, The Black Spirits, Agga Nyabinde, Mandava, Munya Nyamarebvu, Prestige ‘the Band’, Tatenda Mhangami, Mokoomba, Hwamanda, SaMasamba, and Terry Mbofana among others.
