From a failed dream of pursuing journalism, the beauty queen is now a household name in the design and décor industry. Hard work has earned her several awards and recognitions, including the Best Actress award at the 2024 ZAFTAS Awards, a certificate of recognition for her community work (Provincial Youth Award) and a special recognition award in Arts and Entertainment, among others.
The Shabima Award Best Actress winner, Nduru, rose to fame for acting as Shanna in the popular Zimbabwe Television (ZTV) series KuChina the Genesis.
She has also featured in several productions, including Amai Ndafunga Kure by Melgin Tafirenyika, Sofelani, the award-winning series Nhaka Yeupenyu, Prayers and Munhanga.
The musically gifted Nduru has collaborated with renowned artistes such as Prince Kudakwashe Musarurwa on his albums, Gara Muberevere and Gogodera, as well as with Pah Chihera, Princo Bindura and Word Smith (Ambeve). She has an album entitled Kuchaya Mapoto.
“I'm excited about our upcoming feature film, The Future. I landed a lead role in this gripping new Zimbabwean film, which tackles the timely issue of drug abuse. The film explores the invisible battles facing Zimbabwe's youth and the enduring impact of choices made in silence. Tickets are already on sale and I encourage everyone not to miss out on this powerful story,” she told NewsDay Life & Style.

“My journey in the entertainment industry began at Hermann Gmeiner Secondary School in Bindura, where I bravely entered the school's modelling pageant in 2007 and won the title of Miss Hermann Gmeiner despite being the youngest among A-level students. This marked the beginning of my passion for modelling and I never looked back. I've since won over five titles in Mashonaland Central province.
“I'm excited to announce that I've landed a lead role in the feature film The Future and I'll also be appearing in the upcoming movie I Prayed (Nakai Tsuro Productions).”
Nduru said she was driven by a passion to empower women and girls in her community and around the world.
“As a modelling coach, I use my experience to encourage women and girls to pursue their passions and interests. Additionally, I enjoy travelling and learning about different cultures from other countries,” she said.
“Authenticity is key to me. I prioritise staying true to myself and my values, even in an industry that often promotes unrealistic standards, by embracing and celebrating what makes me unique. To young girls looking up to me and dreaming of building a career in the arts and fashion, I say: Be yourself, believe in yourself, and have confidence in yourself. I call it the BBC formula. Don't be afraid to try new things and step out of your comfort zone. Develop your craft, practice makes perfect and always seek guidance from those with experience. Remember, bad character will get you nowhere in this industry. Be patient; rejection is part of the journey,” Nduru added.
