RTG completes US$5,2m refurbishment of Rainbow Towers Hotel

HOSPITALITY concern, Rainbow Tourism Group (RTG) has completed a US$5,2 million refurbishment of its flagship Rainbow Towers Hotel and the adjoining Harare International Conference Centre (HICC), as part of a US$26 million capital investment.

The upgrade is aimed at boosting the group’s appeal to high-end international and diplomatic clients by aligning its facilities with global standards of luxury and efficiency.

“Now, following a lavish US$5,2 million transformation, this five-star property together with the adjacent Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) has emerged more refined than ever before, ready to welcome a new era of world-class conferences and luxurious hospitality,” RTG said in a statement following a tour of the refurbishments yesterday.

“This latest upgrade is part of Rainbow Tourism Group’s broader US$26 million investment over five years, a bold move to reposition Zimbabwe as a premier destination for international meetings and elite travel experiences.”

The hotel’s three newly renovated floors now feature six opulent suites, created by merging four standard rooms into expansive luxury spaces.

“Each suite is a symphony of contemporary elegance,” RTG said.

“Offering two en-suite bedrooms, a plush lounge, private dining area, a sleek kitchenette and a guest bathroom — ideal for the discerning guest who appreciates the finer things in life.”

The group added that the space was a harmonious blend of luxury and liveability, featuring rich textures, ambient lighting, polished finishes, and state-of-the-art amenities that cater to the modern guest

“It’s not just about grandeur it’s the harmony between luxury and liveability. Rich textures, ambient lighting, and polished finishes come together in a soothing palette, while state-of-the-art amenities cater effortlessly to the modern guest,” RTG said.

In addition to the suites, 48 guest rooms have been fully redesigned with a minimalist aesthetic.

“Stripped to their core and rebuilt with sustainability in mind, these rooms now feature sleek bulkheads with soft downlighting, stylish flooring and bathrooms that feel more spa than suite — complete with gleaming surfaces, rain showers, and modern fixtures,” RTG said.

“It’s a setting that invites you to unwind, recharge, and be inspired.”

HICC, one of the largest colosseum-style conference venues in Africa, has also undergone its first full-scale modernisation since its inception.

“The revamp goes far beyond cosmetic,” RTG said.

“New ergonomic seating, equipped with built-in charging stations and writing pads, brings the venue in line with international conference standards, while plush carpeting and enhanced acoustics set a new tone for professional gatherings.”

HICC can accommodate up to 4 500 delegates in a single sitting, and with the latest upgrade, the venue now matches its impressive scale with modern technology and sophisticated style.

The hotel hosted 10 heads of State during the Southern African Development Community Summit last August.

The group also installed two new Kone elevators, bringing the total to four to offer seamless vertical movement with key-card access controls, ensuring both efficiency and security.

“The refashioning of the Rainbow Towers Hotel & Conference Centre has breathed new life into the hotel,” RTG chief executive officer Tendai Madziwanyika said.

“It offers timeless comfort with a modern twist. We are optimistic about our current business performance and the future, positioning Zimbabwe as a premier destination for regional and international meetings and conferences.”
