WestProp breaks ground at Pomona City project

WestProp chief executive officer Ken Sharpe

PROPERTY developer, WestProp Holdings Limited (WestProp) has officially broken ground of its Pomona City Flats from its US$4 billion “city within a city” Pomona City project.

The “city within a city” refers to a large-scale, self-contained urban development within a larger metropolitan area.

These developments are designed to provide all the amenities, services and facilities that residents and businesses might need, creating a micro-urban environment.

The project is situated in Harare’s fast-evolving commercial corridor, adjacent to Wingate Golf Club and just minutes from the Green Zone.

In a speech at the ceremony on Tuesday, WestProp chief executive officer Ken Sharpe said the Pomona flats groundbreaking echoed the group’s commitment to urban regeneration, economic growth and holistic living by blending smart infrastructure with lifestyle conveniences.

“Today marks more than the laying of bricks, it marks the foundation of a thriving, self-contained community,” Sharpe said.

“Pomona is where urban aspirations meet lifestyle innovation, a place where families flourish.”

Key features of Pomona Flats include 22 blocks, each with 16 units across three floors, delivering 352 spacious apartments in Phase 1 alone, artificial intelligent-powered security systems, swimming pool, gym and vibrant community amenities.

There is also a walkable proximity to retail, entertainment and green spaces.

In addition, there is generous parking, 530 bays for residents, 178 for guests and enhanced accessibility through new infrastructure along Alpes Road.

According to the group, the Pomona flats mark the first high-rise residential development in Harare North, and the first in a fully integrated mixed-use enclave with retail, leisure, and residential options.

The group is currently working on other developments that are redefining Harare’s urban landscape such as the Hills Luxury Golf Estate, Millennium Heights, among others.
