Collaborative engagements between the corporate world and the creative industry of unavoidable if Zimbabwe harbour interests to develop its domestic arts sector to reach a competitive levels says upcoming musician, Deny Magaya.
Speaking ahead of the launch of Chamupidigori (2022), a single produced by award-winning music producer, DJ Smart, Magaya stressed on the importance of people working together.
And the much-talked about video accompanying the emotional song, which tells a story of a man whose prayers were finally answered by God after committing to the word and Godly ways was done by Simbarashe Masitara at Ethics Multi-Media in Gweru.
The 27-year-old artiste said in the case of Midlands province, the greatest challenge lies in the dominance of bush arts administration hindering prospective interests of most companies wanting to seize the opportunity of working with artistes.
“As Midlands we have a number of opportunities that we can use to grow the creative industry,” he said.
“We have musicians that can collaborate with government and various stakeholders in promoting investment opportunities in the tourism sector, health, industry and also challenge the status quo, on the negative narratives cast on Zimbabwe through some international media houses among other factors.”
Chamupidigori (2022) was inspired by the many challenges people in Zimbabwe are experiencing due to an unpredictable economic situation.
