United-STATES-based musician Togarepi Chivaviro has dropped his 19th album laden with social commentary tracks and hymns.
Titled African Social Commentary Vol 1, the album was launched at a colourful event in Dallas last week with the Ebenezer-Tiri Munyasha hit maker’s fans dotted across the globe following proceedings on online platforms.
The multi award winning gospel artist told Standard Style that the album has a new sound.
“The 19th album is predominantly a new sound for us as we try to present an indigenous Zimbabwean Gospel sound to people out here (US). I hope our music family will recieve this well,” Chivaviro said.
Some of the tracks on the album include Mbengera, Gore, Happy Birthday and Ishe Ndinzwe Nokufara, among others.
“We often preach about heaven and preparation to go there in most of our songs, but I saw a deficit in messages that address our current lives on earth, petitions for our needs while we are still here before we finally depart. Thus most of the songs on the album look into that,” he said.
Chivaviro worked with gospel diva Rumbie Zvirikuzhe as one of the backing vocalists.
