BY KUDZAI CHITSATSO LAST year Afro-jazz musician Felistas Chipendo, popularly known in music circles as Feli Nandi, shelved the launch of her debut album due to the restrictions imposed by the authorities to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Feli Nandi had prepared a self titled album for her legion of followers having released a number of hit singles as a solo artiste since her departure from Mbeu’s Mhodzi Tribe, in 2020.

Lately, she is one of the most sought-after artistes, performing at various platforms, topping radio charts and signing corporate endorsements.

She has been nominated for various music awards and next week she is vying for two gongs at the Star FM Listeners’ Awards.

On Friday, the 30-year-old music diva takes her act to The Mixers Grill 90 in Harare’s Eastlea suburb for the launch of the much awaited album titled Izwi (The Voice).

“The album best describes my life,” Feli Nandi told Standard Style.

The album has eight tracks.

“It’s an emotional album because I poured out my life on it,” she said.

Feli Nandi has a rich discography of hit singles and these include Ndega Ndada, Munhu Wangu, Dai, Unotyei, Mashoko Angu, Ndiri Chiiko, Ipapo, Mangoromero and Mufudzi WeMombe which features Trevor Dongo.

Companies such as Fine Eye Panel Beaters, Bring Way Motor Spares and The Mixers Grill have come on board to support the musician.

Apart from music, Feli Nandi runs a successful fashion line — Feli Nandi Apparels — which she hopes to spread across the country.

Songs on the album include Ndakareva Wani, Izwi, Moyo Hauudzirwe, Mufaro, Ndizvo Here, Changamire, Hossana and Ariko Here.

Afro-jazz musician Mwenje Mathole of the Musharukwa fame will warm up the stage for Feli Nandi.

Mathole has worked behind the scenes with a number of the big guys in the music industry before she launched her solo career with the release of the album Musharukwa two years ago.

She is an actress and has featured in theatre productions such as Mambo Shava, Spear of Love, Ndure, Inside Out, Tokwe Mukosi, The Storm and Harvest Of Thorns.
