BY CHIEDZA MAZHANGARA REIGNING Miss Curvy Africa Zimbabwe Lucy Tichayana has challenged women with a fuller figure to embrace their structure as preparations for the upcoming Miss Curvy Zimbabwe pageant gather momentum.
Tichayana was crowned Miss Curvy Africa Zimbabwe in 2018 and has been the title holder ever since after the pageant disappeared for the past three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Miss Curvy Africa focuses on curvy models in two categories, those aged between 18 and 30 years and the 31 to 40 year-olds drawn from across the continent.
The pageant, which was introduced in 2014, saw curvy models drawn from 15 African countries battling for honours at the showcase that was held at the Harare International Conference Centre.
The pageant is set to start on July 3 and for this year, 16 curvy models from Zimbabwe will present themselves before the main continental event.
“The pageant is there to celebrate women with a fuller figure and to smash the stereotype that only slim women are beautiful,” Tichayana said. “Plus sized women should embrace themselves and their bodies.
“I can’t wait for the national finals where I will hand over the crown to the next queen who will be the country’s ambassador as she represents Zimbabwe in the African finals.”
Tichayana is also a video vixen, and played a part in Jah Prayzah‘s Mwana Wamambo as the princess.
