Road to Miss Universe Zimbabwe kicks off

Sakky, as Sakhile Dube is affectionately known, shared her deep appreciation for the aspiring beauty queens from her hometown of Bulawayo.

Organisers have confirmed that the road to Miss Universe Zimbabwe has officially begun.

The prestigious pageant is scheduled to take place on May 17 at the Hippodrome in Harare, promising to be a glamorous event.

Bulawayo was the first city to host auditions, a strategic tribute to the reigning titleholder, Sakhile Zibusiso Dube (pictured), who hails from the City of Kings and Queens.

Miss Universe project manager Nakita De Baros  last week spoke to Standard Style at Fazak Home and Hyper, the venue for the Bulawayo auditions.

She expressed her satisfaction with the initial stage.

“The event saw a remarkable turnout of hopeful contestants, each eager to represent Zimbabwe on the world stage,” De Baros said.

“Among the distinguished attendees was Sakhile Dube, the reigning Miss Zimbabwe and a standout contender at Miss Universe 2024, where she placed in the Top 30 in Mexico.

“For more details, people can follow our social media pages.”

Sakky, as Sakhile Dube is affectionately known, shared her deep appreciation for the aspiring beauty queens from her hometown of Bulawayo.

“It warms my heart to see so many young girls from Bulawayo aspiring to represent our beautiful nation on such a large scale,” she said.

“Their enthusiasm, energy, and drive are truly inspiring.”

She emphasised the importance of the journey ahead for the contestants, highlighting the dedication required.

“I am encouraged by the confidence and passion displayed by these young women,” Sakky said.

“They are not only competing for a title, but for a chance to make a difference.

“My hope is that they understand the gravity of this opportunity and do not take it lightly.

“This is about more than just beauty — it's about using the platform to empower and inspire others.”

Harare, Mutare, and Masvingo held their auditions yesterday while other towns will have virtual auditions.

Those who make it into the top 30 will be notified of their fate on April 19 and the top 12 finalists will be announced on April 26, coinciding with the Miss Universe Charity run.
