POPULAR leisure spot Stone and Water Resort in Mvurwi will today host a boxing tournament as part of the joint’s rich festive season entertainment menu.
Stone and Water has turned out to be an outdoor entertainment and leisure centre, with a cocktail of amenities like braai, kids’ play area and car wash, among other facilities.
According to an entertainment menu released by the joint, a boxing tournament kicks off the fun-filled festive season.
Roygri Recreation Club coach Royc Archibald, who is also Mashonaland Central Zimbabwe Boxing Federation (ZBF) chairperson confirmed the floating trophy boxing tournament.
“We are happy to tell the nation that our floating tournament will be held at Stone and Water Resort where we are expecting boxers from across the country,” Archibald said.
“As Roygri we boast of our boxers like Lexmore Brian Nyawasha, Tinotenda Bernard and Polite Kakorera who will battle it out with other boxers from nine other provinces.”
ZBF national coach Alexander Kwangwari hailed Roygri for spearheading good work in boxing.
“I am very impressed with the good work which is being done by ZBF Mashonaland Central chairperson Archibald and on December 22 he is hosting a boxing tournament at Stone and Water who are the major sponsors of the event,” Kwangwari said.

Stone and Water Resort is the home of Roygri boxing academy and the brand ambassador for the resort Simbarashe Sithole said the move was meant to fight drug abuse among youths.
“Stone and Water Resort is sponsoring boxing as a way of fighting drugs and empowering youths so that they get tangible things in life,” Sithole said.
“So far, we have managed to sponsor one of Roygri boxers who is set to represent Zimbabwe in South Africa and we hope to have more boxers who will give the nation pride.”
