All set for the premier of new film Comrade

The film is a production of three Sadc countries; Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique.

All is set for the premier of a new Sadc film titled Comrade in Mutare on April 29 and in Harare on April 30.

In an interview with the Standard Style, the executive producer of the film Stephen Mutsango said people will get to understand the Zimbabwean history and experience life during pre-independence in real time through this film.

“People will get to understand how the Zimbabwean history came about and they are also going to get to experience the life during pre-independence in real time through this film,” he said.

The producer, who is also a director of the film said he is also eyeing an Oscar award since it is a regional film.

“I feel so positive that this time I struck the right chords; this film will be a regional blockbuster and l am actually eyeing an Oscar since it is a regional film,” he said.

The film is a production of three Sadc countries; Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique.

It starrs characters like Felix Machingambi, Mitchell Rudanda, Pretty Mutsango, Charity Siziba, David Mafunga  and Penelope Chindolo a Zambian actress among others.

It was created by Stephen Mutsango and written by Joseph Dzatsata.

Matsango summarised the film to Standard Style.

“The film Comrade is about Comrade, a liberation war veteran who used the guerilla warfare to curb the cattle rustling dilemma which had hit Kecho village.

“So, Comrade has to subject the Kecho village able-bodied people to training in order to prepare them for a war with thieves.

“During camping a lot happens; love, loyalty, vengeance, betrayal and dedication,” he said.

Matsango started producing films in 2019 and he has produced films that include Ngozi in 2019, Vicious Circle in 2021, Smoking Gun in 2022 and Lobengula this year.

The film Comrade is a production of East Life Entertainment Studios.
