Simba Bhora bank on home advantage against Caps United

SIMBA Bhora are banking on home advantage as they seek maximum points when they host log leaders Caps United at Wadzanayi Stadium tomorrow.

After three consecutive wins, coach Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu’s side suffered a setback in midweek, losing 1-0 to Chicken Inn at Barbourfields Stadium on Wednesday.

Mpofu, who described the clash against Makepekepe as a “Category A game,” said his team is determined to bounce back.

“This season, getting three points is gold. All games are tough. It is a tough competition; it is a tough league,” he said.

“Yes, Caps are on top, but it is a fixture we must prepare for. We have to play hard and collect maximum points, especially at home, which is our fortress. As much as they are log leaders, they will find it very difficult. It is not going to be easy for them. It is a Category ‘A’ game.”

Caps United, under Takesure Chiragwi, remain top of the league despite a 2-2 draw with Ngezi Platinum Stars on Wednesday. They had previously beaten Dynamos and lost to Bulawayo Chiefs.

Meanwhile, Chicken Inn, who have been inconsistent this season, travel to Mandava Stadium tomorrow to face FC Platinum, who have had a poor start to the campaign.

Coach Tonderai Ndiraya expressed concern over his squad’s fitness after several players missed the midweek fixture, with fatigue also a factor as they prepare for their third match in seven days.

“Mandava is a very difficult game. It will be the third game in seven days. It depends on physical condition, recovery, and preparation. We must go there with confidence,” he said.

“I am happy we won today [Wednesday]. That gives us some breathing space, but it is still going to be a difficult game.”

Elsewhere, Highlanders host Ngezi Platinum Stars at Barbourfields on Sunday after beating Hardrock at Chahwanda on Wednesday.

Bulawayo Chiefs, who drew away to Triangle, return home to host Hardrock at Barbourfields tomorrow.
