Opinion: Chasing the dream: A vision for the Warriors’ ultimate dugout

If money were no object and the football gods were smiling down on National Sports Stadium, every Warriors fan would have a very specific dream board for the dugout.

We have spent years watching the national team navigate highs and lows, but imagining a world where Zifa’s bank account matches our national passion is a beautiful fantasy.

Here is the ultimate Warriors coaching wish list.

To see the most decorated coach in African football wearing the Zimbabwe colours.

Pitso doesn’t just bring tactics; he brings an aura of winning. Imagine his serial-winner mentality rubbing off on our squad.

He understands the southern African landscape perfectly but has the "big club" experience from Al Ahly to handle the pressure of a nation.

Bringing Pitso Mosimane in would be a statement to the rest of the continent that the Warriors are no longer just "participants"—we are contenders.

To witness the man with the crisp white shirt and the golden touch lead us to a deep Afcon run. Renard is the ultimate mercenary for success.

He proved with Zambia that you don't need a squad of superstars to conquer Africa; you need discipline, belief, and a tactical masterclass.

Having Renard would be like moving from a budget handset to a luxury flagship.

The international media attention alone would put Zimbabwean football on the global map.

To see the "Spanish Guitar" compose a technical masterpiece with our local and foreign-based talent. Riveiro proved at Orlando Pirates that he can take a team with high expectations and turn them into a trophy-winning machine.

His modern, structured approach is exactly what the Warriors need to transition from flair players to a winning system.

Even though he’s currently locked in over in Sweden, we can still dream of that European tactical discipline finally anchoring our backline.

A technical overhaul led by a man who knows how to break hoodoos.

He’s the grind pick. He ended Kenya’s 15-year drought, and in this dream world, he’d be the one to finally stabilize our ship.

He represents the bridge between our current reality and the elite tier above. Stability. No more "placeholder" appointments; just a Uefa pro licence holder building a foundation that lasts for a decade.

In this dream, we aren't just looking for a coach; we are looking for a new era.

Whether it’s the superstar power of Mosimane or the proven Afcon magic of Renard, the wish list is clear: we want someone who makes the rest of Africa nervous when they see Zimbabwe in their qualifying group.

If only the budget could match the dream.
