Scottland FC shift focus to MWOS

REIGNING champions Scottland FC have wasted no time dwelling on their midweek frustrations.

After a tense 0-0 draw against Dynamos at Rufaro Stadium on Wednesday, Mabviravira have immediately shifted their sights to tomorrow’s high-stakes encounter: a trip to Ngoni Stadium to face fierce rivals MWOS FC.

The stalemate against DeMbare marked a concerning trend for Norman Mapeza’s men, who find themselves trapped in a draw loop with three consecutive goalless outings.

Despite the lack of goals, Mapeza remains bullish about his team’s trajectory, citing their dominant second-half display against Dynamos as the blueprint for success this weekend.

Tomorrow’s trip to Ngoni Stadium isn’t just another fixture; it is the renewal of a rivalry that defined the 2025 season.

Both teams entered the top flight as debutants last year and immediately became the league’s pacesetters.

While Scottland eventually claimed the title in their maiden season, MWOS pushed them to the wire, finishing as runners-up.

The head-to-head record between these two is perfectly balanced.

Last season, MWOS defended their home turf with a 1-0 victory at Ngoni, but Scottland exacted revenge with a 1-0 win at Rufaro in the reverse fixture.

With MWOS currently sitting in sixth place — just one point behind Scottland — tomorrow’s match is a classic six-pointer with massive title-race implications.

For Mapeza, the mission at Ngoni is clear: clinical execution.

The coach believes that if his team replicates the intensity shown against Dynamos, the draw loop will finally break.

“We need to continue where we left off in the second [half] and also a bit of the first, and we will be okay,” Mapeza said.

“We definitely need to convert those chances, then we will be okay against MWOS.”

Reflecting on the midweek clash, Mapeza felt his side did enough to secure all three points, including a disallowed goal by star forward Khama Billiat that left the Scottland bench questioning the officiating.

“Look, it was a good game of football,” Mapeza noted.

“I think in the first 10 minutes of the game, Dynamos were in control... but in the second half, I think we were in control of everything. We pushed.

“Still, I don’t know whether that was offside [Billiat’s goal], I’m not sure. Like I always say, those half-chances — it could have been a different story.”

Despite the frustration, the point kept Scottland in fifth place with 14 points from 8 games, maintaining their unbeaten start to the 2026 campaign.

As the champions head to the intimidating atmosphere of Ngoni Stadium, they know that a fourth straight draw would be a setback they can ill afford.

For the fans, it’s a chance to see two of the country’s most ambitious projects clash in a match that has quickly become one of the most anticipated fixtures on the Zimbabwean football calendar.
