DeMbare’s danger. . . Maruwa cautions against complacency

Like many local football fans, Maruwa has closely followed the ongoing struggles of his former club.

TELONE FC coach Herbert Maruwa has issued a stern warning to his WiFi Boys as they prepare to face a struggling Dynamos, emphasising that his former club’s on-field problems could be resolved at any moment.

Like many local football fans, Maruwa has closely followed the ongoing struggles of his former club.

However, he believes the storm surrounding Dynamos can dissipate anytime and they could soon find their form.

The astute and outspoken gaffer reiterated the need for his team to guard against complacency as they enter the typically demanding second half of the season.

A top priority for Maruwa is to avoid being upset by a team currently facing challenges both on and off the pitch.

Maruwa brings a unique perspective, having experienced Dynamos during the successful era under Kalisto Pasuwa and witnessed the difficulties during his own coaching tenure in 2023.

Speaking ahead of the match, Maruwa stated that he is treating their encounter with Dynamos as a cup final, despite the fact that the serial Premier Soccer League winners are currently languishing in the relegation zone.

“Certainly, this game is a big one for us,” Maruwa said.

“We are playing a big club, even though they might be a couple of places down the log.

“They are a big club; they can rise at any time. So, we are basically treating this game as a cup final.”

He continued: “I’ve been telling my players that in the second half of the season, games aren’t easy.

“Every team is playing for a reason. Dynamos want to move away from relegation, so they will be highly determined to win.”
