ZIMBABWE Cricket selectors have retained the core of the T20I squad that faced Ireland for the Triangular Series involving South Africa and New Zealand at home.
The highly entertaining shorter version of the game series is set for July 16 to 26 at Harare Sports Club.
Missing in action will be crowd favourite Tadiwanashe Marumani, batsman Jonathan Campbell and wicketkeeper Nyasha Mayavo.
However, their absence creates opportunities for new talent to shine.
Legspinner Vincent Masekesa, wicketkeeper-batsmen Clive Madande and Tafadzwa Tsiga have been included in the squad, bringing fresh dynamics to the team.
Masekesa’s leg-spin could prove to be a valuable asset in the T20I format, a spot usually filled by Brandon Mavuta, while Madande and Tsiga’s wicketkeeping-batting skills will add depth to the squad.
Seamer Richard Ngarava, who was out injured for the just-ended two-match Test series against South Africa, returns for the T20I.
He was also part of the side that faced Ireland in th20I series. TNgarava’s return is set bolster the team’s bowling department, joining his twin-tower Blessing Muzarabani.
