THE Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) will this weekend honour the late Warriors midfielder and FC Platinum captain Brian Banda with a minute of silence before all league matches.
Banda (29) tragically died last Sunday from injuries sustained in a car accident along the Masvingo-Bulawayo Road.
He was travelling to Bulawayo at the time.
Following Banda’s passing, the PSL postponed FC Platinum’s scheduled match against Manica Diamonds at Sakubva Stadium, which was set for today.
Speaking at Banda’s memorial service at the Bulawayo Amphitheatre before his burial at Lady Stanley Cemetery on Thursday, PSL acting chief executive officer Rodwell Tabe announced the tribute.
“As we mourn one of our own today, I urge you all to take pride in celebrating his life tomorrow and forever,” Tabe said.
“As the Premier Soccer League, we have extended this gesture to the Banda family to observe a minute of silence in all our Castle Lager Premier Soccer matches for Match Day 19 for the weekend of July 5-6.
“I urge you all to take this opportunity to reflect during this minute of silence throughout our matches, as we honour Brian Banda, as we remember his legacy, and as we celebrate his life and the life of football in general.”
