
THE Zimbabwe National Men’s Sevens team, the Zimbabwe 7's Cheetahs, clinched a dramatic bronze medal at the Rugby Africa Men’s Sevens 2025, which concluded in Port Louis, Mauritius, yesterday.
In a nail-biting bronze medal match, the Cheetahs delivered a stunning last-minute performance to defeat Kenya 21–19.
With time winding down, they scored a crucial try to level the game, followed by a clutch conversion just before the final whistle to secure the victory and the podium finish.
Their journey to the bronze medal saw them dominate in the pool stages, where they beat Tunisia 31–17, crushed host nation Mauritius 42–7, and dominated Madagascar 21–7.
In the quarter-finals, the Cheetahs blew past Ghana with a convincing 36–0 win. Their only loss came in a gritty semi-final battle against powerhouse South Africa, going down 19–12.
Finishing with an impressive record of five wins from six matches, the Zambezi Cheetahs demonstrated exceptional skill and determination.
