DYNAMOS coach Saul Chaminuka believes his team can build on yesterday's win over Yadah as they look to turn the fortunes of the club following a horrible start to the season.

The Harare giants registered their second win of the season in 16 matches with a narrow win at Rufaro Stadium.

Defender Clive Mandivei headed in a 43rd-minute winner against his former club, who finished the game with 10 men after leftback Josiah Daka was shown a red card in the  75th minute for a professional foul.

Chaminuka was pleased with how his team played yesterday and applauded his boys for showing resilience and determination in the second half when Yadah threw everything at them.

Dynamos, who had a goal ruled out for offside in the first half, controlled the larger parts of the game and created the better chances, with their Ghanaian import Frank Agyemang wasting two glorious chances late on to kill off the contest.

"I think we played well. And for once today, we scored more than once," Chaminuka quipped, referring to the disallowed goal.

"Unfortunately, the referees thought otherwise. But I don't see why a clear goal like that should be disallowed. And I don't know whether now to say the referees were defending for the opponent or what.

"Because that's a goal that no referee will disallow. Today we scored twice. And I want to say I'm happy. I'm happy for the team. And I'm sure the boys will continue to grow in confidence."

It was Chaminuka's first victory in charge of the club since taking over the reins from fired Lloyd Chigowe two months ago, and he feels his boys are beginning to play the way he wants them to.

In particular, he was impressed with the way they created chances throughout the match, although the finishing was poor.

"We could have scored as many as five today," Chaminuka reflected.

"And, well, for whatever reason, lateness and sometimes poor decision-making, we ended up giving away the opportunities. But I am sure it's something that we can work on. And going forward, if we can create as many as five good scoring opportunities, it means we are almost there. And probably breaking the ice today, the win finally came after a long while. I want to thank God for it."

The former Kwekwe United and GreenFuel gaffer believes Dynamos can kick on from the win in their fight against relegation.

"And like I have said, the players will grow in confidence. And come whoever we play, whether we are playing at home or away, I am sure we will be able to give them problems. And, you know, giving them a good run for their money.

"This win is going to bring a lot of confidence to the boys. And I am sure that, as close as the game is to the next, we will have time to recover."

Dynamos' next match is away to FC Platinum on Sunday.

Despite the victory, Dynamos remained in 16th position, in the relegation zone, although they are now on equal points with Yadah, who sit on the relegation cut-off point.

The two teams have the same number of points and  the same goal difference, but Yadah are ranked higher because they have scored more goals.

Yadah coach Takaendesa Jongwe, whose team hosts defending league champions Simba Bhora this weekend, was gracious in defeat.

"I thought Dynamos had a strong first half. They could have scored more than a goal. From my assessment, it was a game of two halves. I thought we controlled the second half, but we controlled it without much at goal, hence we lost the game... congratulations to Dynamos."

DeMbare came out of the blocks flying and created a glut of chances, but it took them 43 minutes to break the Yadah resistance.

From a short corner by Vusa Ngwenya, Temptation Chiwunga curled the ball into the dangerous area and was headed home by Mandivei, who was lurking at the back post.

A muted celebration followed the goal from the defender, probably out of respect for his former club.

Yadah seized the initiative in the second half, and Mandlenkosi Mlilo should have equalised in the 53rd minute, but headed wide when afforded too much space inside the box. Agyemang should have made it two for DeMbare when he beat Ariel Makopa and keeper Godknows Gurure in the 72nd minute, only for Emmanuel Chitauro to race back and clear the danger off the line.

Yadah pushed men forward in search of an equaliser, but their efforts were made harder when Daka was sent off for pulling down Agyemang, who was through on goal.

The West African should have killed off the contest right at the death after he once again beat the keeper from a Tellmore through pass, but he hesitated to dispatch on an empty net, and Gurure recovered to collect the ball.
