NEWBOYS MWOS FC and Scottland FC are flexing their muscles in the Premier Soccer League, showing the other clubs that have been there forever how things should be done.

MWOS have managed to renovate Ngoni Stadium in Norton to make it a 5 000-seater facility.

“These modern, ergonomic seating areas promise enhanced comfort and visibility, ensuring an elevated matchday experience for fans ahead of the upcoming season,” the club said last year.

“In addition, the technical team’s state-of-the-art dugouts have been completed and are now awaiting installation.

“These bespoke structures, equipped with cutting-edge facilities, will provide managers and support staff with a strategic, streamlined base during fixtures.

“The dugout designs prioritise functionality while aligning with the stadium’s refreshed aesthetic.”

Scottland, on the other hand, have taken over Mabvuku’s Number 1 Grounds, where they are constructing a 15 000-capacity stadium which will serve as their home ground.

The club agreed to lease the ground from Harare City Council for 30 years.

The Punters, as MWOS are known, use a Scania Marcopolo G8, a high-end intercity bus known for its luxurious amenities and advanced safety features.

It’s a popular choice for long-distance travel, offering a comfortable and spacious interior with features like reclining seats, overhead storage, air conditioning, and onboard entertainment systems.

Mabviravira, as Scottland are known, cruise around in a Scania Irizar i6s, a high-end coach manufactured by Irizar on a Scania chassis.

It’s known for its combination of advanced technology, sleek design and passenger comfort, also making it a popular choice for long-distance travel and touring.

Now both teams have upped the ante, this time selling match tickets in advance ahead of their match today.

In the Northern Region Soccer League campaign last season for the sole ticket to the Premiership, Scottland contentiously pipped MWOS to gain promotion into the top league.

MWOS responded by buying the ZPC Hwange franchise and the latter could not have a second team in the league, with ZPC Kariba already there.

Today, MWOS and Scottland face each other on Matchday 14.

And there will be no ticket sales at the match venue, Ngoni Stadium.

“The Premier Soccer League (PSL) would like to inform all stakeholders that the Castle Lager PSL Matchday 14 fixture between MWOS FC and Scottland FC, scheduled to take place on Saturday May 31, 2025 at Ngoni Stadium, Norton, will only sell pre-printed advance tickets which have been allocated to both teams for their stakeholders,” PSL communications and media liaison officer Kudzai Bare said in a statement early this week.

“The secure tickets will be backed by QR coded verification mechanisms linked to a central ticketing server system.

“No tickets will be sold at the stadium on this matchday.”

The tickets started selling on Tuesday.

“Fans are encouraged to purchase these limited tickets early and not to buy tickets from any sources not listed above, as such tickets may be counterfeit and will not be accepted at the venue,” the statement said.

“Gate charges: General access: US$5, VIP: US$10, VVIP: US$20.”

By yesterday, all tickets had been sold out.

MWOS are on top of the log table, with 27 points from seven wins and six draws.

They are yet to taste defeat.

Scottland are in third place with 23 points from six wins, five draws and one loss.

They could be awarded a 3-0 win and three points following an abandoned match in the 90th minute against Chicken Inn last weekend when they were awarded a penalty, which the GameCocks contested.
