Ngezi Platinum compound poor Dynamos’ woes

Sport
Ngezi Platinum

IT never rains, but pours for Dynamos.

Yesterday, it was the turn of former champions Ngezi Platinum to add misery to the Harare giants, who surrendered their lead to lose to 2-1 to the hosts at Boabab Stadium in the Castle Premier League fixture.

Dynamos had started the match on a positive note after taking a 36th minute lead through Frank Agyemang in their 13th match of the season.

The hosts staged a dramatic comeback in the 79th minute through MacDonald Eddison before Kudzai Chigwida scored the winning goal from the penalty spot in the 89th minute.

Dynamos remained stuck in the relegation zone with a measly nine points, while the hosts moved to fifth place with 20 points as the season heads to the halfway stage.

The defeat meant that new DeMbare gaffer Saul Chaminuka is still searching for his first win after being thrust into the hot seat following the sacking of Lloyd Chigowe early this

month.

Dynamos strikers have been struggling for goals in what is turning out to be one of the team’s worst starts to the season, where even relegation is now being spoken of being as a possibility.

Chaminuka began his reign with a one-all draw against CAPS United and has indicated that he is eyeing the midseason transfer window to strengthen the team.

Elsewhere, former champions FC Platinum and Yadah played out a goalless draw at Rufaro Stadium in Harare.

The match between Bikita Minerals and ZPC Kariba  also ended in a nil-all draw.

League pacesetters MWOS were held to a one-all draw by Green Fuel in Chisumbanje.

Billy Vheremu rescued a point away from home for the Norton-based team after he scored in the 51st minute to cancel Perfect Chikwende’s 39th opener for Green Fuel.

In Gweru, Washington Navaya scored late in the match to help TelOne defeat struggling Kwekwe United 1-0.
