Kaindu itches for away win

COACH Kelvin Kaindu reckons Highlanders’ victory over Bikita Minerals on Wednesday will motivate them for another win against Yadah at the Heart Stadium this afternoon.

The Bulawayo giants are yet to pick up victory on the road since the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League campaign began, heading to their 10th game of the season.

Brighton “Maninja” Ncube was on target against Bikita Minerals after he was sent through by Reason Sibanda and Kaindu believes their combination is the trump card for Mahlolanyama.

The Zambian gaffer says his side needs to improve the away record.

“We have not picked up maximum points when we travel. We are still trying to get on our feet and hopefully we focus on the game that is coming,” he said.

“Maybe picking up a victory (against Bikita Minerals) will give us that motivation, but it is not going to be easy although we are playing Yadah, who have not been doing very well.

“I am sure they will come with everything just to pick up maximum points, but I think we need to improve in terms of when we travel.”

Kaindu is impressed that his side is scoring in every game.

“I think we are good. We are scoring in almost every game, but I am still concerned with the way that we are defending, especially the mistakes by our central defenders. We give credit to the team. We (should) keep scoring,” he said.

The narrow win against Bikita Minerals, their third victory of the season, catapulted Bosso to position five on the log table with 14 points, five behind pacesetters MWOS FC.

After a 1-1 stalemate against Manica Diamonds at Ngoni Stadium on Thursday, the Lloyd Mutasa-coached MWOS hit the road to Bulawayo, their first call in the City of Kings and Queens to face struggling Chicken Inn.

The Premier Soccer League debutants are yet to lose a match in the progamme with five wins and four draws, leading the pack with 19 points.

The GameCocks, with only one win in nine games, are 10 points behind MWOS and on Wednesday played their sixth draw in a season where they have suffered two defeats.

They are back at their fortress Luveve two days after entertaining TelOne.

However, FC Platinum hosting Ngezi Platinum at Mandava today and the Dynamos and Scottland tie at Rufaro tomorrow could be the major highlights of the weekend.
