HARARE is gearing up to host the third edition of the annual Musabvunda half marathon and family fun day next week at Blakiston Junior Primary School, with organisers anticipating a significant increase in participation.
Following last year’s successful event, which drew over 2 500 individuals, this year’s edition aims to double that number, expecting at least 5 000 attendees.
The event, scheduled for May 11, will feature both competitive and recreational runners vying for medals, hampers and cash prizes. Adding to the excitement, prominent local musicians, including Silent Killer, Freeman and Madzibaba Nicholas Zakaria, are set to provide entertainment after the race.
Event founder and organiser Kudzai Pasipanodya expressed his optimism that they will achieve their targets
“The preparations are going very well and we are expecting a huge turnout of at least 5 000 participants because the event is a combination of the marathon and a family fun day,” he said.
“We will be having a lot of activities after the marathon.
“We will have kids’ games like jumping castles, we will also have sporting activities like powerlifting and snooker throughout the day.”
On the entertainment aspect, Pasipanodya said: “We will also have entertainment from a number of musicians such as Freeman, Silent Killer, Voltz TJ, Baba Harare, now known as King David, and Madzibaba Zakariah. So it’s going to be a day full of excitement.”
