Mhaka strikes gold in Dubai

HIGHLY-RATED Zimbabwean bodybuilder Godwin Simba Mhaka

HIGHLY-RATED Zimbabwean bodybuilder Godwin Simba Mhaka flew the country's flag with distinction after he scooped four gold and two bronze medals at the 2025 edition of the Global Powerlifting and Bodybuilding International contest at the Pak Auditorium in the United Arab Emirates.

It was Mhaka's debut appearance at the international powerlifting competition, which concluded on Monday.

The Zimbabwean managed to win his first two gold medals in the chest press semi master and open categories.

Mhaka went on to win two more gold medals in the squat  semi masters and open section before he concluded his participation in the prestigious event by adding two bronze medals to his tally in the Deadlift semi-masters and open categories.

"I'm very happy with how I performed, since it was my very first time to take part in powerlifting on an international level,” he said.

"The competition was tough, but I am happy that my determination and hard work paid off and I managed to come back home with four gold and two bronze medals, which I feel is a good start for me.

“The win will motivate me to take part in more international contests before the year ends. I have set my sights on defending my Mr Universe in Malaysia on October 6, before I take part in Mr Universe powerlifting in Bangkok, Thailand, on September 13.

“I think I have done enough and I am now ready for more international shows. I am grateful to all those who have supported me, including my colleagues at the gym and Musabvunda Apparel for their continued support throughout my journey,” Mhaka added.
