CHICKEN INN . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .(0) 1
A LATE Brian Muza strike was enough to hand Chicken Inn their first win of the season after beating struggling Harare giant Dynamos at Rufaro Stadium yesterday.
It was a second consecutive defeat for the Lloyd Chigowe-coached side, which was looking to bounce back from a tough 1–0 loss to Manica Diamonds in Mutare last week.
The latest defeat saw Dynamos slip to 13th place on the log standings with six points from as many matches.
Scoring goals has been the Glamour Boys’ biggest undoing in the season so far, with just two goals to date.
Dynamos have not scored in two consecutive matches since their 1-0 win over champions Simba Bhora on March 30.
Assistant coach Mark Mathe described the defeat as a bitter pill to swallow.

“It’s hard to take. Looking at the balance of play, I thought they had a good game plan; they competed well and won the first ball and second ball, but we went toe-to-toe with them. I still maintain that the Achilles' heel that we have had in these past five or six games is failing to convert chances. I still feel the best result would have been a draw. It’s the referee who has the final say, but my opinion is that the referee should have blown for a foul before Muza’s goal, but that’s the way it is. This is water under the bridge and we look forward to the next game versus Mwos,” he said.
Chicken Inn also went into the match under severe pressure after failing to win in the first five matches, where they managed four draws and a loss.
The 2015 league champions went into the weekend as the only team, along with Triangle, yet to win a match, thereby putting pressure on coach Joey Antipas.
After the win, Antipas also shied away from the media and delegated his assistant, Fungai Kwashi, to do the post-match duties.
Kwashi was full of praise for his coach.
“Firstly, we thank God. It is by the grace of God that we got these points. Also, Joey Antipas is one of the best coaches in world football. When you go to your statistics, you will realise that when Joey Antipas was the national team coach for Zimbabwe, he had the best winning rate. It was also a fantastic performance by the team. They have been giving their best, but we have not been winning. It’s part of football,” he said.
The results saw a section of the Dynamos’ faithful vent their anger on club owner Bernard Marriot, demanding that he let go of the club.
Meanwhile, in Shamva, league debutants Mwos FC beat Herentals by a solitary strike to climb to the summit of the log standings with 14 points from six matches.
Under the tutelage of Lloyd Mutasa, Mwos FC are one of the two teams yet to taste defeat in the championship.
The other team is FC Platinum.
