ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi has pledged his association's support for the Mighty Warriors as they prepare to face Angola in the Caf Women's Africa Cup of Nations

Qualifier.

Magwizi's backing comes at a crucial time for the team bidding to make a statement on the continental stage.

“We stand firmly behind our Mighty Warriors as they prepare for this vital encounter,” Magwizi said in a statement yesterday.

“Their dedication to representing Zimbabwe with honour is truly commendable. As an association, we are committed to providing all necessary support to ensure their success."

Zifa's support comes as a timely boost in the Mighty Warriors quest to emulate their male counterparts, the Warriors who qualified for this year's edition of Afcon to be hosted by Morocco later this year.

“Together, we believe we can achieve greatness and bring the Afcon dream closer to reality,” Magwizi said.

“We will do everything in our power to support the Mighty Warriors and ensure that they have the resources they need to succeed.”

The Mighty Warriors will face Angola in Luanda on February 20 for the first leg, before hosting the return leg at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa, six days later.

The team trooped into camp yesterday and is based at Zesa Training Centre in Belvedere, Harare.

Mighty Warriors head coach Sithethelelwe "Kwinji 15" Sibanda is confident that her charges have what it takes to overcome Angola and secure a spot in the Women's

Afcon.

"The players have shown exceptional commitment and passion from the onset," Sibanda said.

"Our focus is on building a cohesive unit that plays with heart and purpose. We are determined to make Zimbabwe proud and secure our spot in the Women's Afcon."

The team has been boosted by the return of several seasoned campaigners, including Black Rhinos quartet of Daisy Kaitano, Mavis Chirandu, Christabel Katona and Rutendo Makore. Emmaculate Msipa, who plays for Ramat Hashron in Israel, has also made a welcome return to the fold.
