Rhinos take early PNL lead

The army side has slipped only once in eight matches amassing 14 points. That defeat came at the weekend when they lost 54-41 against title aspirants ZDF. Harare City and Harare District occupy second and third places respectively tied on 10 points with each having two games in hand.

Stormers are in fourth place with eight points from six matches while ZDF in fifth place after winning the three matches they have played so far. They are poised to assume top sport should they win their five games in hand.

The bottom three on the 15-team table consists of Argistars, Waterfalls and St Peter and Paul in their respective 13 to 15 positions with no single win so far in the league.

At Mucheke Bubble in Masvingo hosted at St Peter and Paul, ZDF ran riot on Saturday with a 142-7 massacre of St Peter and Paul. The bottom-placed side continued to sing the blues on the same afternoon losing against Black Rhinos 7-130 and 8-68 against City Angels.

In the Harare Bubble games hosted at Glenview 1 High School, High Fliers flew high winning two of their three matches. High Flyers edged Mutare City 40-43, beat Flames 29-34 but came crashing against HD where they lost 45-32.

The Marondera Bubble saw Harare City and Stormers registering two wins apiece.

Harare City beat Waterfalls 70-16 and Zupco 55-33 while Stormers accounted for Waterfalls 62-29 and Marondera 62-28.

The next round of matches is scheduled for Africa Day on May 25 with Gweru expected to host the main bubble.
