Five of the country’s top junior golfers namely the Vincent brothers Scott and Kieran; Robson Chinhoi, Ben Follett-Smith and Stuart Krog spent some time with budding local golfers for a coaching clinic which was held at Chapman Golf Club on Tuesday.
The elite golfers are in the country as they take part in the flagship golf tournament, the FBC Zimbabwe Open currently underway at Royal Harare Golf Club.
Scott and Kieran Vincent are currently playing on the lucrative LIV Golf League while others compete on the Sunshine Tour and the Challenge Tour.
Scott Vincent admitted to the nostalgia that came with spending time with junior golfers.
“Today we spent a little bit of time with the juniors and did a little golf clinic for them. It brought so many memories of when we were young receiving coaching from the pro and it was so much fun spending time with these kids and seeing their passion and excitement when they hit the golf shot,” he said on the side-lines of the event.
“So yes we are giving back this week. This week is all about giving back for me. We have come back to play the Zimbabwe Open for the first time in a few years. We are obviously excited to be here and compete and bring some excitement to the Zimbabwe sport that we love so much,” Vincent added.
The five golfers carry the country’s hopes for a winner in the Zimbabwe Open which has been dominated by South Africans since its reintroduction in the 2010.
This is the 12 th edition since 2010 and the past 11 competitions have been won by South Africans.

Scott Vincent was the highest ranked Zimbabwean in the tournament the last time he featured back in 2016 and tied for fourth place while his younger brother Kieran made his debut as professional last year and was also the best placed local, tied for sixth on an overall 3 – under par 285.
Robson Chinhoi also returns to the Zimbabwe Open as winner on the Sunshine Tour after he scooped the Zanaco Master in Zambia last year.
Follett-Smith and Krog have also been doing well in their respective professional careers.
