HIGHLANDERS coach Kelvin Kaindu is not getting too excited about his team’s good start to the 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) season.
He has urged his players to guard against pressure coming from their success-starved fans.
The Bulawayo giants shot to the summit of the PSL table with 10 points on their tally, ahead of FC Platinum only on goal difference.
On Easter Monday, Bosso defeated TelOne 2-0 at Bata stadium, to pick their third win in four outings.
Kaindu is no stranger to the demands of the fervent Highlanders fans who are yet to celebrate a league title in 17 years.
The Zambian mentor believes putting pressure on the team could jeopardise their hopes and aspirations this season.
“The league is a marathon. It's still early days and as much as we are picking points, I think it is important not to lose focus and maybe perhaps follow what the supporters are looking forward to,” Kaindu said.
The weight of expectations is heavy on Kaindu especially that Highlanders lost steam a crucial stage of last season.
