THE Zifa Normalisation Committee has appointed Ngezi Platinum boss Yvonne Mapika Manwa as the chief executive officer of the organisation.
Manwa has been serving in the same capacity at the Mhondoro-Ngezi-based club since May last year.
The experienced administrator who is taking over from Joseph Mamutse, was nominated ahead of Sheasham’s Violet Njubane, Liberty Maidza, Owen Mugwagwa, Luckson Muradzikwa and another former Ngezi Platinum CEO Nyasha Kadenge who were all interviewed for the position.
Zifa announced Manwa’s appointment in a statement yesterday.
“The Zimbabwe Football Association is pleased to announce that Yvonne Mapika Manwa has been appointed as the new chief executive officer effective November 1, 2023,” said the Zifa Normalisation Committee in a statement.
“In this role, Mrs Manwa will be responsible for leading the Zifa secretariat into the next phase under the normalisation committee. Mrs Manwa has years of experience in senior leadership and football administration positions, having been the chief executive officer of elite football club Ngezi Platinum Stars.”
Manwa’s tenure as the Zifa boss is expected to end on June 30 next year when the mandate of the Normalisation Committee is also expected to end.
“We are thrilled to welcome Mrs Manwa to our team, and we believe her experience and leadership will be invaluable as we continue on the mission to transform Zimbabwean football,” Zifa Normalisation Committee chairperson Lincoln Mutasa said yesterday.

Manwa’s immediate task will be to spruce up the image of the Zifa Normalisation Committee which has been limping from one gaffe to another since taking over control of the association in June.
She is also expected to quickly prepare for the Warriors’ World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Nigeria next month.
The two matches will be played in Rwanda.
Zifa has been without a substantive CEO for nearly two years after then general-secretary Joseph Mamutse went AWOL, refusing to continue his duties in the absence of then president Felton Kamambo.
Chief operations officer Xolisani Gwesela acted as CEO until last month, when the committee dissolved his post along with those of technical director Wilson Mutekede and national teams general manager Wellington Mpandare.
