NORMAN Mapeza has urged his charges to remain united and is confident that they will turn things around following the recent spate of poor results in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
FC Platinum dropped to sixth position on the log with 24 points on their tally, following their 2-1 defeat to Sheasham at the weekend, which saw them stretch their winless run to four matches.
They face Simba Bhora at Mandava Stadium today, with high hopes of bouncing back to winning ways.
It has often been said this season that the four-time champions have lost their mojo after they slipped 11 points behind leaders Highlanders, but Mapeza is confident that his team will soon see out the bad phase.
“What is important for me as a coach and for the players, is to be united. It will come to pass. For now, it’s all about unity,” the former national team captain and coach said.
“Some of the things are beyond us. I don’t want to blame anyone, especially the players. If you look at our three matches, our players have been playing fantastic football. Even the statistics from the last match show it.”
In the first half of the season, Pure Platinum Play beat Simba Bhora 2-1 and Mapeza wants to complete a double over the Shamva based side.
“Preparations are going on very well despite the few hiccups in the recent weeks. We can’t keep talking about it,” the FC Platinum mentor said.

“Everyone knows what is happening. Sometimes it’s sad. We put in extra effort, week-in, week-out, but if you don’t get the desired results, then everyone gets affected.
“As a coach, I am affected, players and fans also get affected but we have to soldier on. We have been in this situation before.”
