On loan Highlanders striker, Daniel Msendami’s late goal for Jwaneng Galaxy handed coach Taurai Mangwiro a first defeat in charge of Botswana Premier League club Orapa United at Galaxy Stadium on Saturday.
Jwaneng are the pacesetters in the league after five games with 13 points from four wins and a draw and are yet to lose, while former Harare City coach Mangwiro’s Orapa are on the seventh spot.
Msendami (20) was loaned out to the Botswana side in August just over two months by new Highlanders gaffer, Baltemar Brito.
“Outstanding victory in the last minutes of the game, Daniel (Msendami) with a brilliant goal to ensure that Lesagaripa collect three points. Jwaneng Galaxy are currently leading the league,” the club said on its Facebook page.
Highlanders also celebrated the goal on their social media pages.
“Loan watch: A Daniel Msendami solitary goal was enough to hand Jwaneng Galaxy maximum points against Orapa United FC in a Botswana Premier League match played earlier today (Saturday),” the Bulawayo giants said.
Msendami was promoted to the Bosso senior team by Brito in July, but decided to send him on loan. He could come back to the club after the Portuguese coach said the club will look to the young players to drive its quest for the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League next year.
Former national team coach, Rahman Gumbo’s side Sua Flamingoes fell to Security Systems 2-0 at home at the Sowa Town Council Stadium in a match that was also played on Saturday.
