A Harare woman has sought a protection order against her two stepchildren following a dispute over the ownership of the family home.
Helema Tsongora alleged that she was living in fear of her stepchildren Tafara and Liah after they physically assaulted her.
“They demanded that I leave the house immediately. I no longer feel safe in my own home,” Tsongora told the court.
She said tensions escalated after she refused to be involved in their family disputes, insisting they speak directly with their father.
Tsongora also claimed the siblings had demanded that she must leave their father, prompting her to report the matter to the police.
In response, Tafara denied the assault allegations.
He accused her stepmother of trying to forge his father’s signature in an attempt to transfer ownership of the house into her name.
“We simply went to collect the documents, and she falsely accused us of assault,” Tafara said.
