Bishop in court for US$80k fraud

The accused, Emmanuel Muzondi (49) from Old Highfield was ordered to return in court on March 11 for trial commencement.

A bishop at Emmanuel Global Church has appeared before the Harare magistrates court facing allegations of defrauding a local businessman US$80 000.

The accused, Emmanuel Muzondi (49) from Old Highfield was ordered to return in court on March 11 for trial commencement.

Muzondi is facing a charge of defrauding Lovemore Pasipamire, the director of Pasmic Procurement (Pvt) Ltd, of US$80 000 in a botched residential stand deal.

Prosecutor Dzidzai Josiah alleged that sometime in July 2023, Pasipamire was advised by three estate agents that Muzondi was selling a residential stand measuring 3 073 square metres in Mandara low-density suburb.

He allegedly made an initial payment of US$75 000, and the accused became evasive after receiving the balance.

The matter was reported to police on where it was then discovered that Muzondi had used forged documents.
