Sikhala court hearing continues

News

A defence witness in a case in which former opposition Zengeza West legislator Job Sikhala and Lovemore Maiko face charges of disorderly conduct has exposed how Zanu PF supporters started the violence.

The matter is being heard by Harare magistrate Yeukai Dzuda.

Maiko and Sikhala are represented by Lazarus Mbereko and Jeremiah Bhamu respectively.

The witness, Kudakwashe Chisvo, told the court that Zanu PF supporters started the violence that led to the disruption of a ruling party rally.

Chisvo said he never saw Sikhala on the day in question.

Sikhala and Maiko are facing charges of disrupting a Zanu PF rally for the then aspiring ward 7 Zengeza West councillor Charamba Mlambo, ahead of the March 2022 by-elections.

Mlambo lost the seat to Maiko who contested the seat on a Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) ticket.

The matter was postponed  to tomorrow for trial continuation.
