AMH journalists scoop top awards.

AMH winners

FIVE Alpha Media Holdings journalists walked away with awards at this year’s National Journalism and Media Awards (NJAMA) ceremony held on Friday evening.

Admire Jamu Mlambo was named the business journalist of the year and Moses Mugugunyeki won the Gender Based Violence (GBV) reporter of the year award.

Miriam Mangwaya scooped the Sino-Zim journalist of the year award and the first runner up in the female journalist of the year category, while Harriet Chikandiwa was the first runner up in the legal and parliamentary reporting category.

Sindiso Dube came first in the Southern region Sexual Orientation Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE) category.

In his congratulatory message, AMH editor-in-chief Wisdom Mdzungairi said: “We will ensure that we continue to be a mirror of society.

“The awards won by our reporters speaks to the quality of journalism that we offer and they speak to the quality of journalism that we are synonymous with,” he said.

Mdzungairi also credited the editors in the AMH stable for “mentoring the journalists”.

“I urge (editors) to keep up the spirit in order to make sure that we provide top quality journalism in the country and by doing so we remain the mirror in the society.

“We are not just focusing on one area,” he said.

“This is also a challenge to the whole industry that they specialise in order to provide quality journalism for the industry so that we can prevail in the industry, which is facing so many challenges.”
