A passenger jumped to his death when a Toyota Dyna truck he was travelling in caught fire along the Harare- Mukumbura highway.

A passenger jumped to his death when a Toyota Dyna truck he was travelling in caught fire along the Harare- Mukumbura highway.

Another passenger sustained serious injuries, while two others escaped unhurt.

Acting Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Naison Dhliwayo said Tinashe Kuhlande died on the spot after jumping from a burning truck while West Nyambuya (31) is admitted at Bindura Hospital and is in a serious condition.

The truck was carrying flammable substances when it caught fire and the driver was alerted by other motorists that it was on fire. The truck was reduced to a shell.

Police warned motorists to desist from carrying flammable substances and avoid jumping off moving vehicles.
