A 22-YEAR-OLD man from Mbundane, Bulawayo, has been sentenced to 12 months in prison wholly suspended for five years for sleeping with a minor.
The man (name withheld to protect the complainant as they are neighbours) appeared before Bulawayo Regional magistrate Sibonginkosi Mnkandla.
He was sentenced 12 months wholly suspended because the two were lovers. The court was told that on February 15, the accused visited the complainant at her sister’s place of residence in Warringharm plots in the city.
As they were watching movies on a laptop, the accused caressed the complainant leading to the duo having sexual intercourse.
The matter was reported to the police, resulting in the arrest of the accused.
