Road construction to make life easier for Gwanda villagers: VP Mohadi

VICE-PRESIDENT Kembo Mohadi

VICE-PRESIDENT Kembo Mohadi has expressed gratitude for the construction of Old Gwanda Road saying the road will make life easier for Gwanda villagers.

Mohadi made the remarks during a Traditional Thanksgiving ceremony in Dula, Umzingwane district on Friday last week.

“Allow me to express my gratitude for the active engagement and commitment of all stakeholders in the process that led to the finalisation and award of the Old Gwanda Road to Zwane Enterprises (Private) Limited. We are here to express our gratitude to the ancestors who have paved the way for the construction of the Old Gwanda Road that connects us all and makes our lives easier and more connected,” Mohadi said.

He said they fully participate in the construction of the road, adding that downstream industries were expected to record increased business.

Matabeleland South Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Evelyn Ndlovu said the project was rooted in the values and traditions that defined locals.

“May this project be a beacon of hope,” Ndlovu said.

Zwane Enterprises (Private) Limited's chief executive officer, Bekithemba Mbambo, paid tribute to stakeholders including government officials and traditional leaders. Before undertaking the project, Zwane was requested to undertake a traditional ceremony at the Maswabi Shrine in Dula.

“Christians said they would rather hold a prayer ceremony the day after. Now that the road upgrade has been fully approved, the corridor chiefs had requested that before any major works on the road, we go back and give thanks for the prayers that assisted in our quest to get licensed,” Mbambo said.
