A FORMER Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) captain whose contract was terminated at a time when he was wrongfully incarcerated says efforts to reclaim his job have been unsuccessful.
In March last year, Solomon Ndlovu appealed to ZNA commander Lieutenant-General Anselem Nhamo Sanyatwe to help him to get his job back, but to date nothing has materialised.
Yesterday, Ndlovu said he has fallen on hard times.
"I am not getting paid or getting any pension because both efforts to be reinstated and to sign retirement forms have failed due to unclear circumstances," Ndlovu said.
"Corruption has resulted in this unclear status of my issue."
Ndlovu was arrested in 2017 after businessman and Zanu PF activist Osfael Mazibuko and his manager Denis Ndlovu reported him to the police for alleged theft of a Toyota Hilux vehicle.
As a result, Ndlovu was convicted by then Beitbridge regional magistrate Mark Dzira in January 2018.
Dzira sentenced him to six years in jail, with two months suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.

A further five months was suspended on condition he restituted Mazibuko US$2 500, leaving him with an effective 65 months to serve.
Following his appeal against sentence and conviction at the High Court, Ndlovu was acquitted after serving one year and eight months at Khami Maximum Security Prison in Bulawayo.
Ndlovu said his efforts to be reinstated had been fruitless.
"When I asked what I was supposed to do, they advised me to go for vetting and they said I must fill in renewal of contract papers. I filled the papers. While processing them, one colonel, now in Botswana, said I had delayed and he charged me. My money was seized and up to now I am not getting paid," he said.
"They at some point told me that I was overtaken by the run out date of contract renewal in which they said I had delayed renewing it (sic)."
Ndlovu said later he was told to fill in retirement papers.
"I asked why can't they reinstate me, promote me according to procedure and from there I can retire."
"I am ready to retire only if proper procedure is followed," he said.
